When faced with a last-minute panic pack, the key is to stay calm, prioritise, and keep it simple.
1 – Gather Supplies
- Boxes or bags (any you have on hand)
- Tape, markers, and labels (if available)
- Bubble wrap or towels for fragile items
2 – Prioritise Essentials
- Clothing: Pack enough for the next few days, including toiletries.
- Important Documents: Gather your IDs, passports, medical records, and essential paperwork.
- Valuables: Keep jewellery, electronics, and other valuables in a separate, easily accessible bag.
- Medications: Ensure any daily medications are packed and accessible.
3 – Room-by-Room Quick Sweep
- Start with the kitchen: Pack only what you use daily, like coffee makers, utensils, and dishware. Everything else can go into a ‘donate’ or ‘trash’ pile.
- Bedrooms: Pack clothing first, then linens and personal items.
- Living Room: Pack electronics and decorative items.
- Bathrooms: Pack daily toiletries, towels, and any cleaning supplies you might need.
4 – Use Soft Items as Padding
- Use towels, bedding, and clothing to wrap fragile items like dishes or glassware.
5 – Label and Stack
- Label boxes with their contents and the room they belong to. This will help when you unpack.
6 – Trash/Donate
- As you pack, create separate bags for trash and donations to keep things organised.
7 – Pack a “First Night” Box
- Include essentials like bedding, a change of clothes, basic toiletries, and any other items you’ll need immediately in your new place.
8 – Don’t Worry About Perfection
- Focus on getting everything packed. You can organise better when you unpack.
9 – Enlist Help
- If possible, get help from friends or family to speed up the process 0r call us.
10 – Stay Calm
- Remember, the goal is to get everything packed, not to do it perfectly.
Good luck packing, and call us if you need a hand!
